Group Prenatal Care
Shared Support. Expert Guidance. Stronger Outcomes.
At Enrich Health, we know that pregnancy is more than a series of medical checkups — it’s a deeply emotional and transformative experience. Our group prenatal care in Hamden, CT blends high-quality clinical care with the power of community, helping you feel more supported, more informed, and less alone during your pregnancy journey.
Led by culturally competent providers and designed especially with Black mothers in mind, our group model offers the connection, education, and empowerment you deserve — all in one welcoming space.
What Is Group Prenatal Care?
Group prenatal care brings together 6–10 women who are due around the same time. These group sessions replace traditional one-on-one prenatal visits and include:
A brief private check-in with your provider
Group discussions covering prenatal health, mindfulness, nutrition, stress-reduction, exercise, childbirth prep, and postpartum care
Peer support from others experiencing similar stages of pregnancy
Shared learning and open Q&A in a respectful, affirming environment
You still receive all essential medical monitoring — but with more time, more conversation, and more community.
Why It Matters — Especially for Black Mothers
Studies show that group prenatal care leads to better outcomes for both mom and baby — including:
Lower risk of preterm birth
Higher breastfeeding rates
Greater satisfaction with care
Stronger emotional support and mental wellness
For Black women in particular, who often experience bias and isolation in traditional healthcare settings, group care offers a culturally affirming alternative where your voice is heard, your experience is validated, and your care is never rushed.
What You’ll Learn & Share in Group Sessions
Our sessions are built around culturally-centered prenatal education that supports your whole self — mind, body, and spirit. Topics include:
Understanding your changing body
Managing common pregnancy symptoms
Nutrition, exercise, and rest during pregnancy
Preparing for labor and delivery
Creating your birth plan and postpartum recovery plan
Emotional health, stress management, and communication
Breastfeeding and infant care basics
Navigating the healthcare system as a Black woman
No question is too small, and no experience is dismissed. This is your space.
Why Group visits matter for Black Maternal Health
Black mothers have worse maternal health outcomes than other races or ethnicities. The group care model has been proven to improve outcomes, in particular for Black women. Our model is designed to eliminate unjust disparities.
Too often, Black mothers report feeling isolated, unheard, or judged in traditional prenatal care. Our group care model flips that dynamic by creating an environment built for Black women.
These aren’t just prenatal visits — they’re pregnancy support groups, rooted in community, where shared stories become a source of strength. Whether you're celebrating small wins or expressing fears, you’re surrounded by people who get it.
In-Person & Virtual Options Available
We offer both in-person and virtual group prenatal care sessions, so you can stay engaged no matter your schedule, comfort level, or location.
Each session lasts around 90 minutes and occurs on a regular schedule throughout your pregnancy.
